Our Parent Support Groups are held on the last Friday of the month typically. We do 6 meetings a year in Suffolk and 4 in Nassau. Suffolk meetings are at Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Rooms 3,4&5 and Nassau meetings are held at various locations.(**holidays and other months where we have big SASI events we might not have a regular meeting so please check to verify that there is a meeting when you are planning to attend by checking our event calendar or e-mailing us at SASIGroupInfo@gmail.com).
If you have not been to a meeting we strongly encourage you to come. Parents are our best resource! Our meetings are well attended and consist of an open forum for questions and the exchange of information as well as typically we have an informational speaker. We pick from the best of what is out there in resources to offer topics that help parents. There are many “A-ha” moments at our meetings and a lot of head nodding. The opportunity to connect with parents who are going through or who have been through the same struggles is invaluable.
We truly are a SASI family and once you come to a meeting you will want to come back again and will leave with a wealth of information and resources. All are welcome regardless of diagnosis. We have parents who have no diagnosis, suspect an issue, have an autism diagnosis or some other diagnosis of add, adhd, intellectual disability and more. Grandparents and extended family are welcome to attend as well.
Refreshments are served. Come and see what SASI is all about. All support meetings are free! You do not need to RSVP you can simply attend. To find out details about the next meeting or if you have questions e-mail us.
